Create more natural and youthful looking arms with Arm Lift Surgery.

Arm Lift in Corpus Christi, TX

Gaining weight in our upper arms is easy, but losing it can be challenging. The upper arms are notoriously difficult to tone, especially as you age and experience collagen loss.

Many individuals struggle with flabby or untoned upper arms, and brachioplasty (or arm lift surgery) can help restore more youthful contours by removing excess fat and skin.

Dr. Vijay Bindingnavele offers arm lift surgery for patients in and around Corpus Christi, Texas, and is currently accepting new clients. Call our office at (361) 888-7417 today to schedule a consultation.

What Is an Arm Lift?

An arm lift (brachioplasty) removes fat and tightens skin on the upper arms to restore youthful-appearing definition to the arms. While this surgery does not create arm muscles, it does expose the existing muscles, giving you a more toned-looking upper body.

Am I a Candidate for Arm Lift Surgery?

Arm lift candidates should be in reasonably good health and displeased with the appearance of their upper arms. Ideal candidates should not smoke, be at a stable weight, and have realistic expectations about their results.

Arm lift surgery is ideal for patients with sagging skin (creating the appearance of “bat wings”) on their upper arms or fat deposits that do not respond to diet and exercise. This is more commonly seen in women but can also occur in men who have lost significant weight.

How Is Brachioplasty Performed?

Brachioplasty is usually performed under general anesthesia.

An incision is made beneath the arm that can extend from the elbow to the armpit. The length of the incision will depend on how much skin removal the patient needs. Excess fat is removed either with liposuction or via direct excision, depending on the type of deposit.

The underlying tissues are tightened and raised, and then excess skin is trimmed. The remaining skin is tightened and sutured back together to form a tighter and firmer appearance.

Can I Combine an Arm Lift With Another Surgery?

If you have other aesthetic concerns, be sure to bring them up during your consultation. Our doctors offer a wide range of treatments and procedures that complement arm lift surgery well.

These include a breast lift, a tummy tuck, liposuction surgery, and many other services available at our Corpus Christi plastic surgery practice. Mothers can even make this procedure part of a Mommy Makeover.

How Painful Is an Arm Lift?

Arm lift surgery is performed under general anesthesia. Because of this, you will not feel any pain during the procedure itself. It is common to develop some discomfort in the hours and days after your surgery.

This pain can be controlled with prescribed or over-the-counter pain medication.

If you experience severe, persistent pain, please contact Dr. Vijay or Dr. Cassidy right away, or visit your nearest urgent care facility.

What Will My Recovery Look Like After My Arm Lift?

Following your surgery, your upper arms will be bandaged, and a compression garment will be applied. This will help speed the healing process and reduce swelling.

You will have to wear a compression garment to minimize swelling and drink lots of water, as this will help expedite your recovery. It’s routine to have some swelling, bruising, and discomfort for a few days after surgery. Keeping your arms elevated will relieve some of the tightness you may feel.

A surgical drain will be left in at the end of your operation. The drain should be emptied every 8 hours. Patients should carefully measure the output in milliliters and record it. This is because the drains are removed once the drained fluid reaches a specific volume. Drains are usually removed within 2 weeks of surgery.

Patients can take showers 2 days after surgery. Although the incision locations can get wet, there must be no immersion of the incision sites. That means no swimming or wading in pools, bath-tubs or other such activities. We give patients a compression garment that should be worn at all times for 6 weeks after surgery, unless in the shower.

Most patients can resume light activities within 2 weeks of surgery. Patients should not perform any strenuous activities for 4 to 6 weeks after their surgery. Vigorous activities may be resumed after your surgeon clears you.

When Can I Exercise After My Surgery?

Dr. Vijay recommends waiting at least a month or two before resuming any strenuous activity. When you do begin to exercise, build up slowly with a low-intensity workout.

Be sure to let the doctor know if you have begun any exercise routine and ask these questions at one of your follow-up appointments.

Starting any exercise program too soon can lengthen your recovery period and cause damage to the healing incision, including the widening of the incision (and resulting scar).

Does Arm Lift Surgery Leave Scars?

One of the most significant trade-offs with arm lift surgery is the scar. Even though the incision is made along the underside of the arm, it would be visible when lifting your arms above your head. However, most patients find that this scar is a small price to pay for the toned and defined results they receive.

You will have a scar after this procedure, but it will fade over time. Avoid exposing your arms to direct sunlight for the first year following your surgery as this can cause the scar to darken. Additionally, you can consider using over-the-counter scar treatment options, such as silicone strips and gel.

Why Choose Dr. Vijay

Dr. Vijay is very unique in the sense of his great customer care, service and experience. He approaches each client as an individual and takes the time to thoroughly understand their needs and desired results.

When Will I See My Arm Lift Results?

The new contours of the arm will be visible almost immediately, though final results may be obscured by swelling for a few weeks. Final results may take a few months to become fully visible. This length of time may vary if patients combine their arm lift with other body contouring procedures, such as tummy tuck surgery, thigh lift surgery or liposuction treatments.

Patients will have scarring on the inside of their upper arms after arm lift surgery. Most patients are satisfied with their results and believe trading “skin for scars” is worthwhile. Dr. Vijay will do his best to ensure the scars are hidden, but some scarring is likely.

How Long Does an Arm Lift Last?

Arm lift surgery permanently removes skin and fat from the upper part of the arm. Because of that, results can be long lasting, if not permanent; however, undergoing an arm lift will not prevent you from gaining additional weight in the arms or stop the natural aging process. Therefore, you may develop additional skin laxity over time.

How Much Is an Arm Lift in Texas?

Arm lift surgery is customizable to the patient. Because of this, the price will vary depending on the extent of the procedure, the techniques used, and any surgical procedures performed in combination. Additionally, the cost of your arm lift will fluctuate depending on surgeon’s fees, facility fees, and anesthesia fees.

You will be provided with an accurate arm lift cost estimate during your consultation with Dr. Vijay.
