What Is a Lower Body Lift?

Sometimes referred to as a belt lipectomy, a lower body lift is essentially a combination of abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and a thigh lift. This surgery addresses loose skin and fat on the abdomen, hips, buttocks, and thighs after weight loss.

Am I a Candidate for Lower Body Lift Surgery?

Lower body lift candidates are non-smokers in good health who are close to their ideal body weight. They are unhappy with the appearance of excess skin and fatty deposits around their lower body after weight loss and have realistic expectations about their results.

This surgery is appropriate for both men and women.

How Is a Lower Body Lift Performed?

Our accredited surgery center typically performs a lower body lift as an outpatient procedure under general anesthesia.

Dr. Vijay will make incisions on each side, from the back to the front of the thighs. This approach allows him to remove excess skin and fat tissue from the tummy, hips, and thighs while leaving enough skin to stretch smoothly over the lower body.

Incisions are closed with sutures, and as soon as you are awake, the recovery portion of the procedure begins.

What Is Recovery Like After a Lower Body Lift?

Some discomfort is expected and can easily be controlled with the pain medications Dr. Vijay prescribes. Patients will need to wear a compression garment for six weeks after the surgery, and they may be asked to follow a special diet during recovery.

Drains will likely be left in place for a few days that will need to be emptied and monitored. Patients are given detailed instructions to follow for the best recovery experience.

Showers are allowed two days after surgery. However, no submersion in bathtubs, pools, hot tubs, or any body of water is permitted since this can interfere with incision healing.

Pain will lessen steadily over the next two weeks, and patients generally plan to take two weeks off of work. Strenuous activity like exercise must be avoided for up to eight weeks, depending on our surgeon’s instructions.

Can I Combine a Lower Body Lift With Another Surgery?

Combining procedures can save money in the long run, so it’s important to bring up all your aesthetic concerns at your consultation. At Corpus Christi Institute of Cosmetic & Plastic Surgery, we offer a wide range of treatments and procedures, many of which can be easily combined for a more comprehensive makeover.

The lower body lift does exactly what it says, and many of our patients also opt for an arm lift to address the extra skin there as well.

What we don’t do simultaneously are surgeries on different parts of the body. For instance, we don’t suggest combining a facelift procedure with a lower body lift — that would have to be performed separately.

When Will I See My Lower Body Lift Results?

Swelling should have diminished significantly by the second month, and lower body lift patients will be able to visualize their true results. Scars are permanent but fade after about one year. These can usually be easily hidden by clothing.

How Long Will My Lower Body Lift Results Last?

Lower body lift surgery permanently removes skin and fat from your abs, hips, thighs, and lower back (buttocks). However, this surgery can not prevent future weight gain and loss, so results may be affected if this happens.

How Much Does a Lower Body Lift in Corpus Christi Cost?

Plastic surgery, including the lower body lift, is a customized procedure, and the price will vary depending on several factors. These include the extent of fat and skin removal, the techniques used, and any additional procedures chosen. The cost of a lower body lift will also fluctuate according to surgeon’s fees, facility fees, and anesthesia fees.

The best way to get an accurate lower body lift quote is by scheduling a consultation with Dr. Vijay.
