Revitalize Drooping or Lined Foreheads

Brow Lift in Corpus Christi, TX

As aging takes its toll, unsightly wrinkles and laxity develop on the forehead. Frown lines between the brows or horizontal lines across the forehead can cause people to look overly stern or angry. Skin laxity may cause the eyebrows to droop, hooding the upper eyelids and creating a tired appearance. If you are bothered by this aesthetic aging, a brow lift might be right for you.

Am I a Candidate for Brow Lift Surgery?

Brow lift candidates are in good health and displeased with the aged appearance of their brows and forehead. Forehead lift surgery is typically performed on patients aged 40 to 70 to counteract the effects of aging on the upper face. However, anyone with creased or loose skin on the forehead caused by muscle activity or inherited conditions is eligible.

If you are physically healthy, don’t smoke (or have quit for longer than 6 weeks), and have realistic goals about the procedure, a forehead lift may be ideal.

How Is Forehead Lift Surgery Performed?

Brow lift surgery is performed in a surgical center under local anesthesia and sedation. There are several different types of forehead lifts, and each corrects skin sagging to a different degree.

In each case, small incision(s) are made along the hairline to access the underlying tissues. Excess skin is tightened, trimmed, and secured to the underlying tissues. This provides the patient with smoother, firmer, and younger-looking skin on the upper face.

Depending on your aesthetic concerns, you may want to combine your forehead lift with one of the following:

What Will My Recovery Look Like After My Brow Lift?

You are advised to sleep with your back and head elevated for the first 5 to 7 days after surgery. Patients should avoid rigorous activities during the first few days, but light activities, such as walking, are encouraged. Patients may experience minor swelling around the incision sites.

Most patients can return to work 1 week after surgery but should avoid strenuous activities and heavy lifting for at least 2 weeks. Dr. Vijay will give you specific instructions to follow after your procedure to ensure the safest and most effective recovery.

When Will I See My Brow Lift Results?

While the initial results of a brow lift can be seen very soon after surgery, longer-term results will be visible within 1 to 2 weeks as post-surgical swelling fades. Final results will be visible within 4 to 6 weeks. The results of a forehead lift are long lasting and will provide cosmetic benefits for years or even decades to come.
