Breast Cancer Risk Factors

Posted September 07, 2018 in Videos

Dr. Vijay discusses the risk factors for developing breast cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, there is no significant correlation between consuming one or two alcoholic drinks a week and a higher risk of one. Drinking alcohol in moderation, especially if you have a genetic risk for breast cancer is important. If you have a personal history of risk factors for breast cancer or an immediate family member who was diagnosed with any type of breast cancer, you should be very cautious about consuming alcohol. Obesity should also be avoided to decrease your risk of developing cancer. Exercising, losing weight, hormone therapy and maintaining an overall healthy lifestyle will also decrease your stages of breast cancer and side effects or your risk of developing one.
