ABOUT THIS VIDEO:

Dr. Vijay discusses the cause and prevention of heat exahaustion, dehydration and other heat related injuries. It takes approximately 2 weeks to get acclimated to the heat, so limit extreme physical outdoor activity until your body is acclimatized. Once your body is used to the heat it learns to sweat more and faster, preventing you from overheating. Dr. Vijay recommends pure water over sport drinks because when you sweat you are losing more water than electrolytes. Muscle cramps can be the first sign of heat exhaustion. It is important to get out of the heat and inside where it is cool and drink cool water while relaxing.
